Safekeep® Scan Stations

Safekeep scans paper documents to create digital images, indexes documents and sustains a secure long term archive. Safekeep is the perfect choice for economically archiving very large quantities of documents.

Safekeep Scan Stations take full advantage of the IBM PowerPC and the rock solid UNIX operating system used in Apple Macintosh computers. It directly uses the RISC technology of the IBM PowerPC to provide stunningly fast imaging functions.

Clerical operators. Safekeep's highly automated, simple to operate user interface is designed for operation by non-technical, clerical operators. New operators on the Safekeep system require as little as fifteen minutes of training and no keyboard skills to perform production quantity document scanning.

Fast scanning. Safekeep runs scanners at full engine speeds. This is accomplished by our inovative double-buffering technology.

Scanners. Safekeep supports Fujitsu and Panasonic SCSI and USB scanners. The Acordex Supported Scanners list is always changing. Contact us if you have a favorite SCSI or USB scanner that we haven't listed.

Imprinter. Imprinting at full scanner speed is supported.

Bar code. Safekeep reads bar codes and files your documents using that information. Unlike competitors' systems, Safekeep accurately reads bar codes printed by dot matrix printers and can even handle carbon-less copies in a multi-part form.

On-the-fly QA. Safekeep displays each page at the user specified rotation and zoom level live during scanning. All exposure checks, bar code reading and indexing is done on-the-fly, completely eliminating the added labor of performing these tasks at a separate workstation.

Storage media. Any device that can be mounted is can archive images. Current technology DVD-RAM and hard disks provide the best performance and reliability. Image backup is managed automatically, promting the user to insert blank media as needed to keep the archive secure.

Unlimited capacity. Safekeep images are stored on removable media such as DVD. Each DVD holds about 200,000 pages. When one fills, a new DVD is automatically requested to store more images. There is no limit to the number of images you can archive with Safekeep. Indexes show negligable slow-down with 100 million pages per index.

Database control. A local database running on the same computer as Safekeep can control imaging functions such as retieval, printing and faxing. This means that you can search your database and use the results to locate documents in Safekeep. Or you could run a database program to prepare automatic document re-prints. As an example you could print "all of the receipts that were signed this month."

Image standards. All images are stored in TIFF as a native format (not translated, not post-processed). You will never be locked into one vendor for all your hardware or software.

OCR. Safekeep's optional text search feature provides an easy way to find a specific page in a long document.

Indexes. Safekeep maintains indexes that keep track of every document ever scanned. You can have many indexes on each system.
