OpenWeb HSM (hierarchical storage management) manages archive and retrieval of files on very large
hard disk arrays. OpenWeb HSM is a set of cgi programs that are built-in to the Acordex OpenWeb
server, and are external to the web server for other platforms.
OpenWeb HSM manages the migration of documents to off-line storage on media such as CD and DVD. When a user needs a document, OpenWeb HSM first looks on large hard disk arrays (sized to each customer's requirements). If the document is too old to be on the array, OpenWeb HSM notifies the client software. All imaging functions include this fundamental management of off-line and on-line storage.
