OpenWeb Server

OpenWeb Server is a very fast http web server that is optimized specifically for large archive management applications. The disk and index caching technologies used are dramatically different from those used to optimize general purpose web servers.

OpenWeb is stunningly fast. In just one second, OpenWeb can serve 70 full page TIFF images to users on just a standard 100baseT ethernet!

OpenWeb includes a set of built-in cgi programs called OpenWeb HSM (hierarchical storage management). OpenWeb HSM runs built-in cgi calls directly for truely instant response to clients on your network:

The disk drives used for document storage at the server can be RAID arrays, or normal drives or even removable media. Configuring OpenWeb to manage a large number of devices is easily accomplished by just listing them. Incrementing the server's disk storage space is very simple. More devices can be added on the fly!

  • OpenWeb HSM will manage thousands of gigabytes of disk array capacity.

  • A single cgi call is used to add files (e.g. TIFF images) into an archive.

  • A single cgi call will retrieve any file ever added to the archive.

  • A list of large disk drives are automatically managed as file storage. Capacity can be easily increased.

  • Current management statistics can be reported to any web browser client.

  • Remote CD or DVD writing is supported for both backup and primary storage functions.

  • Document names can be encrypted when retrieved, preventing anyone from deducing the image file naming conventions.

  • OpenWeb runs on all Apple computers with current or recent versions of Macintosh OSX.
