Our original system configuration
Scanner: Fujitsu M3093e, serial # 17! The Acordex Ink Jet Labeler attached on the paper exit of the scanner was the the first endorser option ever offered for a Fujitsu scanner. Optical Drives: Panasonic Phase Change WORM disks with nearly a Gigabyte each! Those two big full-height drives under the scanner stored 1.88 GB total, and cost $4,000 each. Monitor: A huge 19" black & white CRT weighed 46 pounds! It displayed 1600x1200 pixels, and was actually extremely clear even by today's standards. It cost over $2,000. Computer: The Macintosh IIcx was micro-coded to drive the scanner at its full rated speed of 25 page per minute, a feat requiring $1,000+ accelerator boards from the competitors of that time. The computer had just 8 MB of RAM and a 105 MD hard disk! |
